He must have shrunk … was under 6’ at nfl combine.
In addition to those 5 reasons, I can think of 9.5 million others why Day chose to be HC at OSU. Time to get real guys… to imply that $ is an impure motivator is hypocrisy to the highest degree. Love coach Day, but let’s be honest.
you mean 2011?
oh for crying out loud... plenty of NFL greats have coaching paths like this. Mike Vrabel's first coaching job was as Linebackers coach at OSU. Eddie George's first coaching job is Head Coach at Tennessee State for $400k/year, Deion Sanders' first college job is head coach, the list surely goes on and on... I hope Harbaugh gets thoroughly embarrassed on Saturday and Day throws some barbs at him, but am not going to pretend that he's something that he's not. Harbaugh's first coaching gig was an unpaid assistant on his dad's team. How about Corey Dennis? Doc Tressel? ... nepotism is abundant everywhere in this sport including at OSU.
Maybe Harbaugh's dad was on Bo's staff... but he took University of San Diego to back-to-back 11-1 seasons before taking over as HC at Stanford (who was 1-11 the year before he arrived) to 12-1 four years later, then in his first year as HC for the 49ers took them to the NFC finals then the Superbowl in year 2. I don't like the guy but his coaching success was absolutely not nepotism. Hopefully the Buckeyes pound his ass this weekend and we get the "bitterly disappointed" Harbaugh this tie around.
Let's hope someone hires Sherrone Moore away from michigan. His offensive lines the last 2 years have been outstanding. He's currently co-OC and OL coach, maybe there's an outright OC or head coaching spot for the 36-year old.
Agree except tons of people have talked about it, scroll up through the comments
Was OSU at that level when they lost to Virginia Tech at home in 2014? Or when they barely beat Cincinatti on the road in 2002? Sometimes games are close... sometimes the national champion has a loss on their resume. Are we at that level? Who knows, we'll hopefully get a chance to find out if we make the CFP. Having 8 cupcakes on the schedule, who all think you're their superbowl, is bound to create some less than stellar performances.
Rank these in order from worst, to least worst:
- 2002: 23-19 win at Cincinatti
- 2014: 35-21 loss at home to Virginia Tech
- 2022: 21-7 win at Northwestern
So many major differences between JSN and Nick Bosa.
Nick had a season ending injury and was never granted clearance to play again whereas JSN has TWICE attempted to play with his injury and both times has appeared to re-injure himself after a few plays. Bosa left the team and moved to CA mid-season, haven’t heard any rumblings of that at all with JSN. Nothing we’ve seen from JSN would suggest he’s turned his attention to the NFL.
Didn’t realize Jaylahn disrupted the pass. That explains a LOT of what happened. Pretty sure the broadcast missed it too. Would (should) that show up in the stat sheet as a pressure?
As someone who had lots of hamstring pulls throughout high school and beyond... I don't think the pitch count idea makes sense. When you injure or re-injure a hamstring it's on ONE play where you go to a full sprint or slow down suddenly - not an accumulation of plays. That's why guys pull their hammies running a 40, or on the way to 1st base. I don't think limiting total plays helps, but limiting how hard you go does. So if you go at 80%, you're not likely to re-injure if you play all day. But if you go 100% just one time I'd think that would maximize risk of re-injury. Given the explosive nature of football, I don't see the benefit unless he's just a decoy like Waddle was against us in the NCG. So... I wouldn't play him at all until he's FULL GO for a full practice (or a few), and it doesn't seem like he has been if he's re-tweaking after 20 plays in a game (twice now).
Any trainers or therapists agree or disagree? I'm not an expert but just speaking from personal experience
Gandalf, Yoda… can we start calling michigan the harkonnens?
The Wisconsin receiver dropped the ball before TM arrived.
His go-to is “unblievable”
SIX passing TDs and five rushing
Great stuff, thanks Kyle. Love the NFL references and videos to show your points.
Suggest running a grammar checker if you have one, or run by an editor. It’s “may have run” not “may have ran.” I realize this mistake is accepted in many regions, and attributed to dialect, but it is a professional journalism website.
Never mind I misread, Wypler was in the boot not JSN. Is there a delete function?
Why would he be wearing by a walking boot for a hamstring?? Never heard of that. Would think that would be counterproductive. Looks like his ankle got rolled to me. Plus you can go back in with a banged up ankle, adrenaline can carry you a bit. But a hamstring? That’s not something you shake off
I think most are expecting the exact opposite. Conference champion usually determined by conference W-L record, so non-conference losses wouldn’t matter. Better to play better competition to prepare for post season than to blow out cream puffs. Plus a lot more money. Plus the committee will reward teams for playing a tougher schedule.
What about coordinator to HC at Ohio State? Did Ryan Day seems to be doing OK
Tough call on the phish… I watched the first half at Halftime Sports bar across the street from Dicks then went to the show in time for the first set but missed the second half of the game. Not an easy decision!
Thanks Griffin - suggest running grammar check on future articles. Some pronoun issues -
Hickman says McCalister "always has the answer" if him and the other safties are ever confused about a check.
shouid be: Hickman says McCalister "always has the answer" if HE and the other safties are ever confused about a check.
Let’s represent well for your OSU degree.
My read of the article is that JTT is wrong. He's saying his initials are JT because his name is Jaylahn Tuimoloau. There's only one "T" - there's no "extra T". Sort of like Michael Jordan is MJ, not MJJ. Or Larry Johnson could be LJ, not LJJ.
Kirk Barton talked about this on one of his podcasts and how he was specifically coached to address JT when we arrived at OSU and not mess it up... like the dispatch headline does and seemingly every one everywhere else...
