Remember this -- the championship celebration at Ohio Stadium in the depths of winter? Cie Grant delivered a great rendition of Carmen Ohio.
Still makes me warm!

I think you are drastically underestimating the impact the loss of our two time heisman finalist will have on the offense. There will be chapters removed from the playbook. The qb run will be in play, but the intermediate/deep passing game will take a huge step back. The offense will not be as productive. CJ Stroud, when on, was/is the best QB in OSU history.
Buuuuut….as you mentioned, the defense should be OSU’s best since Chase Young was terrorizing OTs and QBs. Hopefully with another year of learning Knowles’ exotic blitz packages and focusing on better safety play, we can reach our potential, defensively.
Like you, I’m so frickin excited for the future!
Agree, and thank you. Ryan Day called a marvelous game. Georgia (best defense statistically and by acclamation) had no answers. Guys were open. There were passing lanes. Played to CJs strengths. Broke tendencies.
A minority of our fan base believes Day is substandard, and isn’t fit to lead OSU. You, sirs and madams, are wrong. Either you don’t know football or react on pure emotion.
Day can’t be a genius for most of the game (creating a double digit lead against the best college football has to offer) and moron for the last minute. This makes no sense. You can’t have it both ways.
Hope he stays as long as he wants.
Ginn was the fastest on the field, hands down. It might have been the same game (Minny), or against MSU, when Musburger (I think) said "you're not gonna catch him unless you're a world class sprinter." And even that was an understatement. No way a world class sprinter would have been than fast in pads.
Great story. Thank you for sharing with your fellow Buckeyes. So happy your son found a place of comfort and joy watching the wrestling team. As the Dad of a little boy, this one hit home. They're such emotional, unpredictable creatures -- and as you mentioned, it could have soured quickly.
All the best in his future fandom!
Totally agree! As many on this thread have stated, this team just looks different. Sensabaugh can obviously ball, but I’m really impressed by okpara. Totally the opposite of a stiff. Moves his feet, set good screens, has good hands, seems to have good timing, and will be an absolute force in time.
Based on nothing (since I can’t watch the game), OSU has significant offensive talent and versatile types in Sueing and Likelike, but we will struggle with TOs, on the glass and against skilled bigs. Sound familiar?
He made some all-pro (as in NFL all-pro) level throws on the run. He didn’t make the big mistake, and came through when the game was on the line. That’s a pretty solid performance in my book. However, there were times when he was visibly frustrated with himself, and probably his young receivers. He said that he didn’t play his best in the post game interview. I love the kid and there’s no one I’d trade for him. This win with a less than complete receiver complement will pay dividends in future competitive contests.
So many worthwhile ideas here that I don’t need to add. Suffice it to say that Italy is a big country with tons of shit to see and do. Been to most of the major urban centers. Venice is suffocating in many respects (got nauseous on a vaporetto), but has its charms. Rome is crazy and overwhelming, but where else can you visit so many well preserved sites that are 2000+ years old. Just a few highlights for me: Taormina on Sicily was so cool. Walked up a long ascent to the Greek theater and enjoyed arancini along the way. Took The Godfather tour and the driver played the theme song…simple pleasures. Loved the pizza at the admittedly tourist heavy pizzeria Trianon in Naples. It’s the real stuff.
Where's your proof?
If a wizard could subtract 23% body fat from my Dad bod, would I look like that? Nah, I'd look like Pete Davidson.
Master, we wish you well! You've put in the work, obviously. Hope you find a spot in the League and compensation worthy of your efforts!
Big Man Japan. Please look it up and watch a few clips on Youtube. It is awful and oddly disturbing, yet...compelling?
Went into the game with highest pass efficiency rating in Power 5. You can have those QBs. We’ll take Stroud.
Thanks again Salty. Great deep dive as always.
More of a movie theater candy, but sno-caps are great!
Love Zero bars as well. Great nougat mouthfeel. We never get them on Halloween since they aren’t included in the big variety packs.
Great win and goes to show that you can’t judge a 19 yo who threw his first college pass last month (and, by extension, the head coach that starts him) based on very limited data. There will be additional bumps in the road for Stroud and company but the ceiling is very high,
My favorite CJ plays apart from the obvious escape and TD toss to Olave were:
-Perfect read and execution on throw to Crowley (of all people) for a first down out of the backfield. I wasn’t expecting that and neither was Rutgers.
-TD toss to Ruckert knowing a big hit was coming on safety blitz
Someone mentioned that Stroud looked “average” against Rutgers. Watch some football please.
Since no one has mentioned the "hog mollies" in the trenches, I'll submit a few. Non fanatics remember Orlando Pace and Korey Stringer, but OSU has had so many good ones.
LeCharles Bentley -- think he won the Rimington or some other OL award. Was great for 3+ years.
Corey Linsley -- not sure he won any awards, but was a stalwart at C, and is having a long NFL career to boot.
Rob Sims -- total road-grader at guard and played tackle as well. Believe for the champs of '02.

Thank you for listening.
Hoping for the best, but this is a tough matchup for OSU. This year's Achilles heel on defense is a big with offensive skills, eg Garza. He killed us last year. Unfortunately, I think the Minny game is the best comparison. We had no answers for their 7-footer. That said, this team has surprising resiliency. Go Bucks!
Say what you will about CJ, you want him on that wall, and you need him on that wall in endgame scenarios. He’s a 99% free throw shooter!
I haven't seen Iceland mentioned. Has otherworldly scenery -- you feel as if you're on a different planet most of the time. If you like photography, there are waterfalls a plenty and glacier shots that look like you've been photoshopped in. The light is also great because of the high latitude. We were lucky enough to have an "8/10" Northern Lights night. It's the most remarkable natural phenomenon I've ever witnessed.
On the downside, the food is just okay and it is very expensive.
I also love Thailand. If you go, I'd recommend breaking up the trip into city (Bangkok obviously), country (one of the ruins, like Ayuttaya) and beach phases. Phuket has many beaches with different vibes, but is so overtouristed.
Ronnie Fields, hands down. For you young folks, look him up. Chicago Farragut HS played in a high school basketball showcase in St. Louis when I was a college freshman. I've never seen anyone with more twitchy athletic ability in person. His in-game dunks rivaled the best of Kobe and Lebron, and he was (is) 6'1''. I stood next to him on the floor after his game, and he was not 6'3'' as listed.

Anyone remember Mike Burden? All-everything safety out of the Chicago area? I'm not sure he ever played a down for OSU, but he was a major get back in the day.
Some other names from the past: Jaja Riley, (Fly)dell Ross, Durell Price -- who never made it to OSU because he had second thoughts after faxing his letter of intent
